5. WHAT CAN WE KNOW ABOUT HUNGARIAN SHERLOCKIANS?

Unfortunately, no significant Sherlockian society has developed in Hungary. Under communism, it was not really advisable to deal with a detective who thought and solved problems an living in the West. Even after the change of regime, only twice were all the Sherlock Holmes stories published. They are rarely available and very expensive. Few Sherlock movies, toys and items are taken over by TV channels and sellers from abroad. Members of our club are also scattered in remote parts of the country. Distance  cause difficulties.

The Hungarian Sherlock Holmes Club is working to raise awareness of the legendary detective and to honour the memory of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
